Ronald Isley has spent more than six decades shaping the sound of American music. Born in Cincinnati, Ohio, he got his start singing gospel with his brothers as a child. After the tragic passing of their younger brother Vernon, the Isley siblings moved to New York to pursue a new musical path. What followed was the 1959 release of “Shout!”- a song that would become a cultural anthem and launch Ronald into a lifetime at the forefront of soul, R&B, and funk.

As the unmistakable voice of The Isley Brothers, Ronald led the group through one of the most remarkable evolutions in popular music. From early R&B and doo-wop, to gritty funk, sensual slow jams, and modern soul, Ronald’s voice anchored timeless hits like “It’s Your Thing,” “That Lady,” “For the Love of You,” and “Between the Sheets.” His presence helped the Isleys become the only group to chart on the Billboard Hot 100 across six straight decades.

But Ronald’s story goes beyond the band. In the ’90s, he stepped into the spotlight with a new persona, “Mr. Biggs”- thanks to a series of unforgettable collaborations with R. Kelly. That slick, suited alter ego introduced him to a new generation of fans and cemented his place in R&B lore. He later embraced his solo journey with albums like Mr. I and continued working alongside his younger brother Ernie in a revitalized version of The Isley Brothers.

Over the years, Ronald’s impact has been recognized with induction into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, a Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award, and a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. But even with all the accolades, he’s never stopped moving forward.
